Endometriosis: Diagnostic Considerations Involved

Endometriosis: Diagnostic Considerations Involved

Endometriosis is believed to be a common condition of the reproductive organs in women. This condition is likely the leading cause for chronic pelvic pain experienced by women. Dr. Tamer Seckin is a board certified gynecologist. He is internationally renowned for providing consultation and endometriosis surgery care to over 1,000 women with diagnosed endometriosis and/or related conditions. Dr. Seckin has surgical privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, and his private practice is near Central Park on Fifth Avenue. There are several testimonials expressing gratitude and hope highlighting the personal care received throughout the treatment process.

Overview:

A fairly straightforward definition of endometriosis is put forth by the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. “Endometriosis is often a painful disorder in which tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus (endometrium) goes outside the uterus (endometrial implant).” This condition may involve the ovaries, bowel or tissue lining the abdomen. Sources note that tissue displacement is mostly confined to the abdominal cavity.

Endometriosis is said to be most common among Caucasian women compared to Asian or African American women. A secondary factor is height and stature, i.e., tall and slender and low body mass index). The age range most concerning for endometriosis is generally between 25 and 35-years-old. It is postulated that one may not be aware that they have symptoms of the condition, which can be the case several months before diagnosis is sought. The percentage of women found to have endometriosis, is lower in pelvic surgery for gynecologic conditions. However, the percentage rises significantly for women undergoing either robotic-assisted laparoscopy, or laparoscopic surgery for pelvic pain and/or evaluation for infertility.

Examination and Treatment:

When the displaced tissue or implant has no escape route, it becomes trapped within the abdominal cavity. Over time, cysts called endometriomas may form if the ovaries are noted to be the location of the displaced tissue. Adjacent tissue may be affected and show signs of adhesions or scarring. Irritation and pain may well accompany these findings.

A visit to a board certified gynecologist will initially be information gathering. Family and personal medical history will be acquired. Also, some discussion will focus on pain or symptoms before, during and after menstruation. There also may be pain associated with intercourse, bowel movement and urination. There may be questions concerning volume of bleeding between periods (menometrorrhagia), as well as bleeding volume during periods (menorrhagia). Other conditions may be considered such as pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cyst and irritable bowel syndrome. The patient may be prescribed NSAIDs or hormone therapy for a few months, if the exam favors a diagnostic of endometriosis. Laparoscopic surgery is generally done when prior treatment has not relieved pain, or evaluation for infertility is being undertaken.

Taking the Easy Way

Taking the Easy Way

When you’re out of work, it can be an emotionally trying time. You don’t have the money to pay the bills that you have, you don’t know when you’ll get back to work, and you might not be able to go back to work if the company closes. It’s no wonder there are abut 45,000 suicides every year as a result of people being unemployed. Susan McGalla knows that living a life of stability and going to a life of the unknown is something that is hard to face. There are people who don’t know how they will support their family, so they take the easy way out, thinking that if they weren’t around, their family could live better. Some people get so down about not having money that they don’t see the bright sides in life. They only see that things aren’t good at the time and that if they wait, then things might get better in the future if they start applying for jobs or seek the help needed to get through a tough time.

FreedomPop Makes Debut in Mobile World

FreedomPop Makes Debut in Mobile World

FreedomPop has entered the Mobile World offering data, voice, and text through popular providers Clearwire and Sprint. This one of a kind, revolutionary wireless internet and mobile phone service provider fresh out of Los Angeles, California is proving to be a threat to other mobile providers with its bargain prices.

FreedomPop has recently increased its visibility on the cell phone service map by introducing a WiFi plan available to smart phone and tablet users for the low price of only $5 a month. Users who buy this plan will be able to enjoy as much text, data, and calls as they please without worrying about going over each month.

FreedomPop began its attempts to take over the mobile carrier scene by offering basic cellular data and voice plans free to its users. This alone has caused many people to notice FreedomPop and look into its services. However, the company has recently added a much more enticing deal – their $5 a month WiFi service. This plan allows users unlimited access to WiFi through over 10 million hot spots through out the U.S. This recent offer by FreedomPop could put them on the map in a big way, and could also cause a blow to other carriers that make their users pay premiums to get WiFi. FreedomPop’s strategy is based around the idea that users spend most of their time on their phones using the internet, so offering them an extremely cheap way to access the internet may be the best way to attract mobile users to their company.

The WiFi service will be available to users in the Android app store, with an iPhone option coming shortly. Users will be able to gain access to WiFi at many popular locations such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Best Buy, and Starbucks. This service is an enticing offer for users who are not currently with a cell phone carrier or are looking to switch carriers, as switching to FreedomPop can be significantly cheaper for them. This $5 per month WiFi offer from FreedomPop can also be a no brainer choice for people who own cell phones that they no longer use. By purchasing a $5 monthly WiFi plan for an unused cell phone, they can add at least a little value to that old phone that they don’t want to shell out extra money each month to add to their carrier.

Turns Out, Kids Eat More If They Aren’t Rushing Through Lunch To Get to the Playground

Turns Out, Kids Eat More If They Aren’t Rushing Through Lunch To Get to the Playground

We all know that schools have a hard time getting kids to eat their veggies, but a new study from Cornell University ( http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0091743514004599 )suggests that the problem may not be taste based at all. Little kids spend much of their school day just waiting for their favorite past-time: recess. It seems that schools in the US tend to hold this precious playground time after lunch, so kids rush through lunch like it’s another subject, something to get out of the way so that they can get out on the playground.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette with Susan McGalla reports this study found that if schools simply switched the time they had recess; instead letting the kids run around and wear themselves out before they sat down to eat, those little buggers would work up quite the appetite. The children actually wound up eating 54% more fruits and veggies than they did before the switch, whereas the control schools actually wound up slowly eating less and less during the course of the study. They were no longer rushing through their lunch and throwing half of it away, because they weren’t trying to just get it over with so they could go play. They were also likely more hungry, as they had just burned through a ton of calories playing and needed the boost, which would make them less irritable and more attentive once they got back in the classroom.

Advice From Susan McGalla On Dealing With The Glass Ceiling

Advice From Susan McGalla On Dealing With The Glass Ceiling
Susan McGalla is a force within the retail industry. Her work history for American Eagle Outfitters and her time as CEO of Wet Seal demonstrates her passion for the fashion market and her dedication to specialty retail.

Susan McGalla knows what it means to be both a woman and a leader in business. Her consulting firm, P3 Executive Consulting, LLC, allows her to continue to work within her passion by aiding others to improve their businesses. Her consulting firm specializes in helping others in the specialty retail fashion industry. She aids other retailers in improving their branding capabilities and building efficiencies within their businesses that will allow her clients to maintain their focus on their passions as their business expands.

Galla offers three points to women hoping to build and expand their careers in today’s market. Her first point is the most critical: Education is the foundation for many of the opportunities that will come your way. Students concerned about the high cost of higher education are encouraged to focus on financial aid and scholarships that will focus on their particular capabilities and talents.

Her second point is also important: Community. Surround yourself with people you admire. Successful women help other women succeed. Should you find yourself enmeshed in a social or work-related situation that leads you to think less of your work output or capabilities, it’s time to re-assess. Am I working effectively? Is my contribution invigorating to my organization? If it’s not, focus on improving your work output until you’re producing the quality of work you want to be known for. If it is, it may be time to expand or change your work circle. Your capabilities can be amazing. Don’t settle for co-workers or supervisors who refuse to acknowledge the good you’re doing.

Her final point encourages women in the workplace to promote their work and let it speak for itself. Will you face stereotypes and prejudices? Probably. Can pointing them out improve the situation? Probably not. Any citizens of the 21st century who resort to any method of limiting women based on out-moded methods of thinking have been doing that for a while.

About that glass ceiling? Susan Galla suggests you ignore it. Keep going toward the success you know you’re capable of.
