Lefkofsky’s beginnings date back to his roots as Michigan native. His parents valued education themselves and that appears to have a profound effect on him. Eric graduated in 1991 from the University of Michigan and just two years later earned another degree for the University of Michigan Law School. Lefkofsky soon began working to create his own business. He teamed up with his friend Brad Keywell and together the two borrowed money from family to create their first business Brandon Apparel. This apparel company based in Wisconsin became quite successful. It led Keywell and Lefkofsy to begin other businesses which include successful companies like InnerWorkings, which provided print services for other companies and Echo Global Logistics, a freight logistics company. The duo proved they had just what it took to build a successful business.

Eric Lefkofsky poured more than one million dollars into this company, but it proved well worth it. Forbes Magazine recognized Groupon as one of the fast growing companies in history in 2010. Lefkofsy even got a six million dollar offer from Google to buy his company. The company would continue to grow and today is one of the most successful companies you can find.

 

Eric Lefkofsy is more than just a business man. He cares deeply about children and even created the the Lefkofsky Foundation to help fund educational and scientific cause for children. He serves on the board of directors at both the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago and The Art Institute of Chicago. He is committed to giving back to his community. His work is clearly head and shoulders above many other entrepreneurs.
