There is a large debate going on in Colorado as to whether an IUD can be considered a type of an abortion. There are many state laws that regulate what type of aid can be given when it comes to contraception. Usually most contraception is free, however an abortion is not always. Since that is the case there are some legislators in the state of Colorado that believe that More investigation should be done on IUDs.
Even though IUDs generally prevent the sperm and the egg from connecting, if it happens that the sperm and egg do connect it makes it so that the uterus is an inhabitable place for the egg to reside. In that case the IUD is actually killing a fertilized egg. To some people that could be considered an abortion. Since that is the case there is much legislation that is going on to see if the IUD should be considered a method of abortion or if it should be considered normal contraceptive.
Marcio Alaor BMG has heard that the jury is still out as to what the decision of the case maybe, but either way a person has to make their own conscientious decision as to whether they think an IUD is a correct form of contraception or not.
